A historic building
for your stay in Rome!

The building is a typical example of nineteenth-century architecture that reworks classic Renaissance lines. Today, it overlooks Vicolo Cellini, Piazza Sforza-Cesarini and, along the main facade, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.
Located in the heart of Rione Ponte, stage of the fervent Roman Renaissance and antechamber of the Vatican, the building was born in Via dei Banchi Nuovi that corresponds to the initial stretch of the ancient "via Papalis" or "Pontifical"so called for the papal processions that passed through it for the famous ride "of possession" that the new Pope made to go from Saint Peter to the Basilica of Saint John Lateran.
The attribution "via dei banchi Nuovi" came after the transfer of the Papal Mint from Palazzo Sforza-Cesarini to Palazzo del Banco di S. Spirito, prompting the Florentine bankers to open their exchange offices in this stretch of road.
The Rione was restored by Pope Sixtus IV and the arrangement of the streets led to a considerable expansion of private construction, a situation that transformed the streets of Rome adorned with painted facades and graffiti.
In the early '900, the new town plan operated in the district several unfortunate that have partially modified the sixteenth century and led to the creation of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.
